About PatriciaArt has always been my central focus. While living in France, I came to love the work of Degas and Monet. But there have been other important influences, especially that of the Great Masters for studio portraiture. Photography has become for me portraiture informed by art - creating an image that captures the spirit of the individual, yet is a unique work of art. Many fine teachers have led me to develop my style at schools and seminars through the years, but among them are two who altered the course of my career. The first was nationally revered Jane Connor Sziser who taught me how Photoshop could bring my photography to a new level. She showed me how to gather from numerous images the elements of a truly great portrait. The second was Julie Hughes, recently International Photographer of the Year, who directed me to put all else aside and become a “painter of portraits.” Capturing the warmth and beauty of children, their families, and dancers of all ages in a setting that enhances this expression is my goal and my joy... |
