Modest Maternity

For  years I struggled with finding a personal style in photographing maternities.  I felt I knew what the current style says-  waiting Moms want to be photographed with style and pride.  The only problem was that I had a problem with the bare belly-  not that I didn’t enjoy that kind of work.  It’s just that it didn’t seem right for me.  I never felt I could reach to that special place in Mom’s heart using that style.  My marketing “person” was after me about this.  OK.  If you know her, Lisa Kingree was very much after me about this.  I finally agreed to do a maternity sitting in my own style when she produced a model.  And she did– a beautiful one at that.  Here is how I found my path-   just working with my model to create what I thought was beautiful.  Now that style is developing.  My latest mom is really sparkling in my “Modest Maternity” style.  Here is my first “Modest Maternity” subject and my most recent, each so lovely in her own way!blogMaternity

I love this style, Pat. I think there are a lot of moms-to-be who are uncomfortable featuring their own bare belly who would love to look this beautiful in a portrait at such a special time in their lives.
