One of the people I have loved the most in my life is my brother-in-law John who passed away a number of years ago.  John had Downs Syndrome and loved me with a sincerity and simplicity that touched my heart.  It’s probably a lot due to John that I so much want to support Hi-Hope.  This is an organization that supports adults with disabilities, from those who need constant care to those who can work at the right job.  It seems so important to me that these people receive the care they deserve and that their families have some well-earned rest.  Hi-Hope is filled with sincere staff who genuinely care for their charges in an atmosphere of respect.  All that said, here is the flyer for the fundraiser.  Anyone is welcome to participate!

I was looking back at favorite outdoor shots from last  year and came across this image of three children interacting.  Mom and Dad chose a more formal portrait for the family room wall portrait, but I just love the warmth and personality of this candid.  Each child’s personality is so vividly shown, and they are genuinely happy. Achieving a  balance between perfection and elegance in formal portrait and the challenge to capture feeling and still look artful in candid portraiture are never-ending goals in portraiture.   Here’s one of the top candids from 2010.  Hope it inspires you to let me create one for your family!

After the holiday rush, time out is in order.  Photographing families, children, pets, and romance seekers on Match.com can be exhausting as well as exciting.  Last November was the best month EVER for Patricia Gagne Photographic Art, and we are grateful – as well as tired!  Here is my favorite shot of our vacation at Marco Island.  Walt went all out to show me a good time!

Can  you imagine sharing the company of  these three darlings in a photo studio for close to two hours?  Actually, it was kind of fun, as well as exhausting.  Mom  Susan was a great help in working with these adorable dogs.  We tried all kinds of things but the greatest moments came at the end of the sitting when the three cuddled up together as they are used to doing at home.  That natural look – capturing the spirit of the subjects- is the essence of great photography.  So we have this magnificent painting as a result of our efforts.  Pet portrait photography – I can’t wait to do more.patriciagagnephoto.com

The project to find a model for my beautiful garden dress is taking shape beautifully.  There will be six contestants – lovely three year olds with beautiful smiles! Here is the first entry– to give you an idea of what is ahead.  I will call for a vote when all six paintings are complete.  Outdoor photography with children can have thrilling results.

• My relationship with this family began with the maternity portrait.  Vivien was so alive, so full of the joy of having her first child!  Here she is in February:

And four months later, we have Blake at the center of this happy family.  For his first sitting we did the baby, above all, of course.  But also we squeezed in Mom and Baby, Dad and Baby, and First Family Portrait!  You can feel the love in this family, and that is why I have titled the collage I created from this session “First Love”.
